Spring cleaning is under way and your closet is no exception. Whether you’re embodying an Isabel Marant high-fashion runway look, or styling the Frye boots you impulsively bought to match a gingham cowgirl outfit, Spring is the perfect season to set aside the old and explore the vastly diverse world of fashion.

There’s nothing like gingham to remind us all of the sunny days to come and the picnics that follow suit. Gingham has seen a rise in popularity throughout several brands, with Oddli first coming to mind. While their iconic boxers may never be topped, their new bralettes are perfect for warm weather and can even be the base for the many layers needed to brave through winter. The orange and blue colorway takes it up a notch, so Gators can be both stylish and spirited during the upcoming Spring game in April.

Many fashionistas are trading their florals for polka dots this Spring as the pattern has recently found its way into most garments. This motif, often referred to as “timeless,” offers a playful way of participating in the “old money” trend. While still using classic silhouettes and neutral colors, polka dots can shine through without being seen as too flashy. Dressed up or down, polka dots are one of the most versatile, universally beautiful and accessible trends which we will be seeing lots of in the upcoming months.

While understated looks have been getting their flowers, so have the bright and flashy garments defined by sequins, beading and glitter. Referred to as “Ibiza spring break” fits by the lookbook final bosses of TikTok, this trend has us all yearning for days near the beach and nights at Ushuaïa. While European influencers are finding incredible vintage versions of these intricately beaded pieces on Vinted, we may have to stick to Peppermayo, Princess Polly and a prayer to the thrift gods to feed into our Ibiza fantasies.

Isabel Marant and Boho Chic

Last, but certainly not least, Isabel Marant has us all in a chokehold with her effortless yet extremely intricate looks. Characterized by chunky belts and jewelry, and loose, thin fabrics that drape over the skin, the “boho chic” aesthetic is having a complete resurgence this Spring. Lace, linen and low-cuts are the holy trinity of this trend and they come together to make our angelic yet rustic dreams come true. We can’t wait for the UV levels of March to bless us with tans to compliment the light fabrics typical of these pieces.

While trends are fun and bring newfound excitement for anyone feeling stuck in their fashion sense, it’s still valuable to note how cyclical every pattern, aesthetic and designer is. Boho chic was born in the 1960s and has come back every so often ever since. While picking up one or two pieces per trend can scratch that shopping itch, ensure they are ones you can see yourself wearing in the long run.

Most importantly, remember the time of year shouldn’t strictly determine what colors and patterns you wear. Especially in this Florida weather, most pieces can transcend seasons and be worn at any point – so have fun with it!
